What StockIQ Does
StockIQ tells you how much to order, of what, and when — before you run out and before you over-buy. It learns the rhythm of your store from your own sales history, forecasts demand per product, and turns those forecasts into concrete reorder quantities and purchase orders.
Most "AI inventory" apps use the word "AI" to mean "we wrote a new report." StockIQ is different. The "AI" here maps to real, working capabilities:
- A genuine time-series forecasting engine that detects the level, trend, and weekly seasonality in each product's sales — not a rebranded 7-day moving average.
- A real demand-sensing layer that watches live order, cart, and search activity and flags a spike the moment it happens, instead of waiting a week for the next batch forecast.
- A real AI assistant you can ask plain-English questions — and it answers using your live store data, not generic advice.
- An autonomous reorder agent that can draft (and, if you allow it, submit) purchase orders inside spending caps and rules you set, with every decision logged and reversible.
Everything is grounded in your actual store, and every AI feature has a sensible fallback so it still works on day one — before you have months of history.
Who StockIQ is for
- $100K–$1M/year Shopify merchants who need real forecasting and purchase-order automation without paying enterprise OMS prices.
- Brick-and-mortar and omnichannel stores (including former Stocky / POS-Pro users) who lost their inventory tool and need a replacement that doesn't cost ERP money.
- Growing catalogs where guessing reorder quantities by gut feel has started costing real money in stockouts and dead stock.
What you get out of it
- Fewer stockouts — you see what's about to run out and exactly how much to reorder.
- Less dead capital — slow movers surface early so you can discount, bundle, or liquidate them.
- Less manual work — purchase orders draft themselves from your forecasts; suppliers get emailed from inside the app.
- A number behind every decision — every recommendation comes with the reasoning, a confidence level, and the revenue at stake.
Getting Started
1. Install the App
Install StockIQ from the Shopify App Store. The app is free to start — there's a Free plan with no credit card required. After installing, you land in the StockIQ dashboard inside your Shopify admin.
2. Run the Setup Wizard
The first time you open StockIQ, a short onboarding wizard walks you through four steps:
- Welcome — a quick overview of what's about to happen.
- Store Analysis — StockIQ pulls your products, current inventory, and the last 90 days of orders. It shows you a snapshot: how many products you have, total inventory value, how many are out of stock, which products are rising or falling in demand, and your top sellers by velocity. It also surfaces a few prioritized recommendations to act on first.
- Configure Forecasting — set your starting preferences:
- Forecast Horizon — how far ahead to forecast (7 / 14 / 30 / 60 / 90 / 180 / 365 days; default 30).
- Safety Stock Days — your default buffer (0 to 90 days; default 7).
- Enable AI Forecasting, Enable Anomaly Detection, and Enable External Signals (external signals are a higher-tier feature).
- Primary Alert Email — where urgent alerts go (optional).
- Review & Launch — confirm everything and you're dropped into the dashboard.
You can change any of these later in Settings.
3. Let the First Sync Finish
StockIQ imports your catalog and sales history in the background. Forecasts, ABC classes, and sales velocities populate as the data flows in. You'll get a useful forecast immediately — even with sparse history — because the engine falls back to a simple average until it has at least three weeks of data to model properly.
4. (Optional) Turn On Storefront Widgets
If you want urgency badges ("Only 3 left") and back-in-stock capture on your product pages, enable the StockIQ app embed in Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embeds. See Storefront Widgets. This is optional — StockIQ's forecasting works whether or not you show anything on the storefront.
The Dashboard
The dashboard is the home screen of StockIQ. It's built to give you a complete picture of your inventory health in one glance.
Top KPI Cards
Four headline numbers across the top:
- Inventory Value — the total retail value of what you're holding, with a trend indicator.
- Products Tracked — how many products StockIQ is actively forecasting (and how many are in stock).
- Active Alerts — open alerts, with a badge for how many are critical.
- Forecast Accuracy — how close your forecasts have been to reality, shown as a percentage with a change arrow versus the prior 30 days.
AI Engine Status
A card showing whether Forecasting and Anomaly Detection are enabled, your model's recent accuracy, and the date of the last analysis — plus quick Generate Forecast and Ask AI buttons.
Financial Impact
Translates inventory state into money: estimated lost revenue over the last 30 days (from stockouts), your inventory cost and inventory value, and potential margin. This is the number that tells you whether your stock decisions are paying off.
Inventory Health Distribution
Four progress bars showing what share of your catalog is In Stock / Low Stock / Out of Stock / Overstock, plus quick metrics for Average Days of Stock, Inventory Turnover, and Sell-Through Rate.
Alert Summary & AI Insights
- Alert Summary — severity chips (Critical / High / Medium / Low) and your most recent alerts, with a link to the full Alerts page.
- AI Insights — up to three plain-English insights the AI has surfaced (e.g., "5 products out of stock", "3 products with rising demand", "dead-stock products tying up capital"), each with a one-click link to act on it.
Action Cards
When there's something worth doing, the dashboard shows it directly:
- AI Safety-Stock Tuning — how much working capital you could free up (or how much stockout risk you're carrying) by adjusting buffers, with a link to the recommendations.
- Predictive Restock — how many products need reordering, the recommended spend, and the average supplier slip (how late your suppliers actually run), with a link to the drift chart.
Quick Actions
Buttons to Sync Inventory, Generate Forecast, Create PO, and View Inventory so you can jump straight to the most common tasks.
Inventory Tracking
Click Inventory in the sidebar for a live, filterable view of every variant you hold.
Health Summary
Four cards at the top count your products by status: In Stock, Low Stock, Out of Stock, and Overstock.
The Inventory Table
Each row shows:
- Product + variant + SKU
- Location (for multi-location stores)
- Available, Committed, and Incoming quantities
- Days of Stock — how many days the current stock will last at the current sales rate
- Stockout Risk — a colored badge (Low / Medium / High / Critical) computed from how fast the item is selling versus how much is left
- ABC Classification — A, B, or C (see below)
Filters
Narrow the list by Location, ABC Classification (A = high value, B = medium, C = low), and Stock Status (In Stock / Low Stock / Out of Stock / Overstock). Applied filters appear as removable chips.
Ask in Plain English
There's a natural-language search bar above the table. Type something like "show me A items with more than 10 days of stock" and StockIQ translates it into the right filters automatically (and shows you the filters it applied, as chips you can remove). This shares your monthly AI query allowance.
Sync from Shopify
The Sync from Shopify button pulls the latest inventory levels on demand. StockIQ also stays in sync automatically through Shopify webhooks — product, inventory-level, and order changes flow in within seconds — but the button is there when you want an immediate refresh.
What is ABC Classification?
StockIQ automatically sorts your products into three buckets by how much revenue they contribute:
- A items — your top earners. Never let these go out of stock.
- B items — solid mid-tier products.
- C items — low-revenue products. Don't tie up cash over-ordering these.
This lets you focus reordering effort where it actually matters. You can filter every inventory view by class with one click.
AI Demand Forecasting
This is the engine at the heart of StockIQ. Click Forecasting in the sidebar.
What the Forecast Does
For each product, StockIQ predicts how many units you'll sell over your forecast horizon (e.g., the next 30 days), with a day-by-day curve and a confidence range.
How the Engine Actually Works
StockIQ uses a real time-series model, not a dressed-up moving average:
- For products with enough history (at least three full weeks of daily sales), it fits a Holt-Winters exponential-smoothing model that captures three things at once: the product's baseline level, its upward or downward trend, and its weekly seasonality (e.g., weekend spikes).
- For products with short history, it falls back to a weighted moving average (recent weeks count more) plus a linear trend and day-of-week factors — so you still get a sensible forecast from day one.
- On top of the base forecast, it layers:
- Promotion uplifts — any active or upcoming promotions you've logged raise the forecast for those dates.
- External signals — real-world demand signals (see Demand Sensing) nudge the forecast up or down.
- Net-demand adjustment — if you also run ReturnsIQ, forecasts can be computed on orders minus returns, so you stop over-ordering high-return items (see Sister-App Connections).
- Every forecast comes with a confidence interval — an upper and lower bound, not just a single number — and a confidence score that rises as the engine has more history to learn from.
The Forecast List
The forecast list shows each product with its predicted demand, a confidence badge (High / Medium / Low), its demand trend (rising / declining / stable), and the forecast date. Filter by product type or trend. A Net badge appears on any product whose forecast was adjusted for returns.
Click Generate Forecasts to (re)run forecasts across your tracked products. Each generation counts against your monthly forecast allowance.
The Forecast Detail
Click any product to open its detail view:
- A day-by-day chart showing the predicted curve and its confidence band.
- Contributing Factors — a breakdown of how much of the forecast comes from base demand, trend, seasonality, promotion uplift, and external signals. If a returns adjustment was applied, you see both the gross and net figures and the return rate used.
- A plain-English explanation of the forecast — what's driving it, whether demand is trending, which promotions were accounted for.
- Recommendations — concrete next steps (e.g., "reorder approximately N units to cover the forecast period").
Honesty note: A few fields on the forecast detail page (such as per-day actual sales overlaid on the chart) are still being wired up and may show a dash. The forecast itself, the factor breakdown, the explanation, and the recommendations are all live.
Demand Sensing — Catching Spikes in Real Time
Weekly batch forecasts are great for planning, but they can't react to a flash sale or a viral moment that happens today. Demand Sensing is the real-time layer that does. Click Demand Sensing in the sidebar.
What It Watches
StockIQ continuously scores live signals on each product and weights them:
- Orders (the strongest signal)
- Add-to-cart events
- Searches on your store
- Page views
- Returns (which pull demand down)
It compares the weighted real-time demand against what your forecast expected for the same window (a rolling 24-hour view) and computes a deviation. When demand runs far enough ahead of (or behind) forecast, the product is flagged as an anomaly.
The Demand-Sensing Dashboard
Headline cards show Signals Today, Active Anomalies, Trending Up, Trending Down, and Forecast Adjustments. A table lists your top trending products with the deviation percentage, trend direction, and current demand. If there are active anomalies, a banner calls them out.
Auto-Adjust Forecasts
One click on Auto-Adjust Forecasts applies the inferred trend to your demand model for the affected products, so your forecasts catch up to reality without waiting for the next batch run. You choose how aggressive this is with a sensitivity setting (low / medium / high) — higher sensitivity reacts to smaller deviations.
Demand Sensing is available on the Growth plan and above.
Restock Recommendations
Click Restock Recommendations in the sidebar for a prioritized "what to reorder right now" list. StockIQ scans your catalog nightly and flags products crossing their reorder threshold.
What Makes It Smart
The reorder point isn't a static rule — it's supplier-aware and it learns:
- StockIQ tracks each supplier's actual delivery time versus what they promised, and computes a lead-time multiplier (1.0× = on time, 1.5× = consistently 50% late). A chronically late supplier means you need to reorder earlier — StockIQ bakes that in automatically.
- Recommended order quantities account for forecast demand, your safety buffer, and that learned lead-time slip.
The Table
Headline cards show Total Flagged, Total Recommended Order Value, your Default Safety Days, and the Average Lead-Time Multiplier across suppliers. Each row shows the product, current stock, average daily demand, days until stockout (with an urgency badge), recommended quantity and order value, the supplier, and both the promised and effective (learned) lead times.
Click View Drift Chart on any row to see a supplier's promised-versus-actual delivery times over time — so you can see exactly which suppliers are slipping.
Press Scan Now to re-run the analysis on demand (it also runs automatically every morning).
Safety Stock
Safety stock is the buffer that protects you against demand variability and late deliveries. StockIQ gives you two complementary views.
Dynamic Safety Stock
Click Safety Stock. StockIQ calculates a safety-stock buffer and reorder point per SKU using:
- Your chosen service level (90% / 95% recommended / 97% / 98% / 99% / 99.5% — higher means fewer stockouts but more buffer)
- Demand variability (how erratic the product's sales are)
- Supplier lead-time variance (how unpredictable the delivery is)
The table shows each product's current stock, calculated safety stock, reorder point, days until reorder, and whether it needs to be ordered now. A banner calls out anything that needs reordering today.
Safety-Stock Recommendations
Click Safety Stock Recommendations for an AI-tuned view that compares your current buffer settings against what StockIQ thinks they should be:
- Working Capital You Could Free — money locked up in buffers that are larger than they need to be.
- Stockout-Risk Exposure — products whose buffers are too thin.
- Actionable Products — the ones where the gap is big enough to be worth acting on.
Each row shows current days, recommended days, the delta, the estimated capital impact in dollars, and a short reasoning explanation. Filter to "actionable only" to cut to the chase. These recommendations refresh nightly; press Recompute to refresh on demand.
Purchase Orders
Click Purchase Orders in the sidebar to create, send, receive, and track POs.
Three Ways to Create a PO
- AI Generate — the fastest. Click AI Generate PO and StockIQ analyzes which products are below their target days-of-stock, picks the right supplier for each (your preferred supplier, or the highest-rated active one as fallback), and drafts one purchase order per supplier with forecast-driven quantities. You get a summary of how many POs it created, how many SKUs they cover, and which products still need a supplier assigned. The PO carries an AI Generated badge and an expandable AI rationale explaining the quantities.
- Manual — click Create PO and build it yourself: pick a supplier (the expected delivery date auto-fills from the supplier's lead time), add line items with quantities and unit costs, then add shipping, tax, or discounts. A live order summary totals it up.
- From a recommendation — act on a Restock Recommendation or an Agent Mode suggestion.
Sending a PO
Open a draft PO and click Send to Supplier. StockIQ emails the supplier the order — line items, terms, and ship date included — and marks the PO as sent. (The supplier needs an email on file; if it's missing, StockIQ tells you to add one under Suppliers.)
Receiving Stock
When goods arrive, open the PO and click Receive Items. Enter the quantity received per line — full or partial. StockIQ tracks ordered vs. received per item and flips the PO to Partially Received or Received, and the actual delivery date feeds back into that supplier's lead-time learning.
PO Statuses
Draft → Sent → Confirmed → Partially Received → Received, plus Cancelled. Payment status is tracked separately (Paid / Partial / Pending / Overdue). You can cancel draft, sent, or confirmed orders; you can only delete drafts and cancelled orders.
Suppliers & Supplier Scoring
Click Suppliers in the sidebar. StockIQ doesn't just store your suppliers — it scores them on how they actually perform.
The Supplier List
Each supplier shows its name, country, lead time, an overall performance score (0–100), a risk level (Low / Medium / High), its on-time delivery rate, and active/inactive status. The score bar is color-coded so weak suppliers jump out.
Adding a Supplier
Click Add Supplier and fill in contact details, address, and order terms — lead time, minimum order quantity (MOQ), minimum order value (MOV), payment terms, and currency. You can also add a holiday schedule so StockIQ accounts for supplier downtime in lead-time calculations.
The Supplier Scorecard
Open any supplier for a five-tab detail view:
- Details — edit contact info and terms.
- Scorecard — the overall score broken into Quality, Reliability, Cost Competitiveness, and Responsiveness, plus a risk assessment and recommendations. Scores update after every order, so they reflect real history, not a one-time guess.
- Products — which products this supplier carries, with cost, MOQ, and lead time per product. Linking products here tells the AI PO generator who to order each item from. One product can have a preferred supplier (its first choice for restocking). Past PO history is auto-backfilled, so this often fills in on its own.
- Performance History — every past delivery: expected vs. actual date, on-time / early / late, the variance in days, and items received vs. ordered.
- Purchase Orders — every PO you've placed with this supplier.
Lead-Time Learning
This is the quiet superpower. Every time you receive a PO, StockIQ compares the actual delivery to the promised one and updates that supplier's lead-time multiplier. That multiplier flows straight into Restock Recommendations and reorder points — so a supplier that's reliably two weeks late automatically makes you reorder two weeks earlier.
Alerts & Anomalies
Click Alerts in the sidebar to monitor everything that needs attention.
Severity Levels
Every alert is categorized by urgency: Critical, High, Medium, or Low. Summary cards count alerts in each bucket, and a banner highlights unread critical and high alerts.
Alert Types
StockIQ raises alerts for stockouts, low stock, overstock, demand spikes, and more. Each alert carries a title, a message, the affected product, a recommendation (what to do about it), and often a one-click action link (e.g., "Create PO", "View Product").
Managing Alerts
Filter by severity, type, read state, or date range, or search the text. Select alerts to mark as read or dismiss in bulk. Dismissed alerts are hidden by default so your list stays focused on what's still open.
Anomaly detection (the engine that raises demand-spike alerts) is available on the Growth plan and above.
Bundles & Kits
Click Bundles in the sidebar if you sell products as kits, bundles, or multi-packs. StockIQ forecasts bundles the right way — by their components, not as a single black box.
Why Bundles Are Different
A bundle is only sellable if every component is in stock. So the question that matters isn't "how many bundles do I have" — it's "how many can I still assemble, and which component runs out first." StockIQ answers exactly that.
Building a Bundle
Click Create Bundle and give it a name and SKU (optionally link it to an existing Shopify product so it stays in sync). Then add components: search your catalog, pick each component product, and set the quantity per bundle. As you build, StockIQ shows each component's available stock and how many bundles that component alone could support.
The Bundle List
Each bundle row shows its name, SKU, component count, average daily sales, and Max Assemblable — how many complete bundles you can build right now, color-coded by days of cover (green ≥ 7 days, amber 3–7, red < 3). Open any bundle to see its full bill of materials and a forecast driven by the bottleneck component (the one that limits the bundle).
Component-aware bundle forecasting is part of the Growth plan and above.
Promotions (Forecast Hints)
Click Promotions in the sidebar to tell StockIQ about sales you have planned — so your forecast inflates demand before the promotion hits and you don't stock out mid-sale.
Important: Promotions here are forecasting hints, not live storefront discounts. Logging a promotion teaches the forecast to expect a spike on those dates. To actually run the discount on your storefront, create it in Shopify Admin → Discounts.
Logging a Promotion
Click Create Promotion and set the type — Percentage Off, Fixed Amount Off, BOGO, Flash Sale, Bundle Deal, or Free Shipping — the discount value, the start and end dates, the channel, and which products it applies to (all products, or a specific selection).
Predicted vs. Actual Uplift
StockIQ estimates the demand uplift for each promotion from a calibrated lookup table by promo type (for example, flash sales typically drive a 2–3× spike), and learns from your actuals over time — the list shows the predicted uplift next to the uplift you actually got, with the variance, so the model gets sharper with every sale you run.
Simulate Before You Commit
On the create screen, click Simulate Impact to preview the effect: StockIQ shows the predicted demand multiplier, an estimated revenue impact, and a per-product list of which items would need extra inventory (current vs. recommended quantity, with the shortfall) — plus a plain-English explanation of the reasoning. Promotion-impact modeling is available on the Growth plan and above.
The AI Assistant (AI Copilot)
Click AI Copilot in the sidebar to ask plain-English questions about your inventory and get real answers grounded in your store. (It's labeled AI Copilot in the navigation.)
What Makes It Real
This is a genuine AI assistant, not a search box with canned replies:
- It sends your question along with your live store context — product counts, what's out of stock, what's running low, your top sellers and their velocities, supplier and purchase-order counts — to a large language model, which writes a concise, specific answer.
- If you mention a product by name or SKU, the assistant looks that product up and pulls its stock, days of cover, velocity, and trend into the answer — so "How's the linen blazer doing?" gets a real, product-specific reply.
- Answers come with a confidence indicator, and the assistant is transparent about the data it used.
- It's built to stay on the rails — your question is sandboxed so a sneaky product title can't hijack the model, and the assistant will say "I can't tell from your data" rather than invent a number.
Examples
Try the starter prompts or ask your own:
- "Which products are at risk of stockout?"
- "What's my inventory health?"
- "Which products should I discount?"
- "What's the demand forecast for next month?"
- "Generate a purchase order for low-stock items."
Some answers include a data table or chart, clickable product chips that jump you to a pre-filtered inventory view, and suggested actions (e.g., a button to view stockout alerts or draft a PO).
When AI Is Unavailable
If the AI service is temporarily unreachable, the assistant falls back gracefully to keyword-based answers built from your store data and shows an "AI unavailable" banner — so you always get a useful response, you just know when it's the lighter-weight version.
Your plan includes a monthly allowance of AI queries; the assistant and the plain-English inventory search share that pool.
Agent Mode — Autonomous Reordering
Click Agent Mode in the sidebar. This lets StockIQ make reorder decisions for you — within guardrails you set, with every action logged and reversible. Agent Mode is the most powerful feature in StockIQ and is available on the top plan.
Autonomy Levels
You choose how much rope to give the agent with a 1–4 slider:
- Level 1 — Manual: the agent only suggests actions; you approve everything.
- Level 2 — Assisted: the agent auto-drafts purchase orders for low-risk reorders and holds them for your approval (they expire after 24 hours if you don't act).
- Level 3 — Semi-Autonomous: the agent auto-executes reorders up to your spending limits and asks approval above them.
- Level 4 — Fully Autonomous: the agent operates independently inside your guardrails. (Today Level 4 behaves like Level 3 at execution time — both auto-submit within your caps and re-check every guardrail before acting; Level 4 is reserved for future fully-hands-off semantics.)
Guardrails
You stay in control with hard limits the agent cannot cross:
- Max Daily Spend — a ceiling on everything the agent commits in a day.
- Max Single Order — a per-action cap.
- Approval Threshold — anything above this dollar amount always requires your sign-off.
- Product Allowlist — if set, the agent can only order these products.
- Product Blocklist — products the agent must never order.
- Supplier Blocklist — suppliers the agent must never use.
Guardrails are re-checked at the moment of execution, so changing a rule takes effect immediately. If an action would break a rule, the agent blocks it and records exactly why (e.g., "blocked: spending limit", "blocked: supplier blocklist").
Review & Audit
- Pending Approvals lists everything waiting on you, with the reasoning and estimated cost — approve or reject in one click. Approving a drafted PO marks it sent; rejecting cancels the draft.
- Recent Actions is the full audit trail: every suggestion, approval, rejection, execution, block, and expiry — each with its reasoning, cost, and revenue impact. Filter by status.
- Status cards roll up the last 7 days: actions executed, total spend, revenue impact, and stockouts prevented.
Every agent action is idempotent (it won't double-order the same thing in a day), every drafted PO is clearly labeled as agent-created, and you can opt into email notifications for drafted, executed, or blocked actions.
Dead Stock & Liquidation
Click Dead Stock in the sidebar to find — and recover cash from — inventory that isn't moving.
Finding Dead Stock
StockIQ flags products that haven't sold in 90+ days (configurable) while still holding inventory. Summary cards show the number of dead-stock items, total units, the carrying cost (what it's costing you to hold them, monthly and total), and the estimated recoverable revenue. A severity breakdown chart sorts them by how badly they're stuck.
Recovering Cash — Three Ways
- Discount — StockIQ suggests a clearance discount percentage per product. One click applies it as a 30-day promotion.
- Bundle — where it makes sense, StockIQ suggests pairing a dead item with a fast mover so the combo deal moves both.
- Liquidate via auction — if you also run Kernvel AI Auction (AuctionAI), click Send to Auction to push a dead-stock product straight into AuctionAI as a liquidation lot and recover whatever the market will bear. The liquidation status (Listed / Queued / Failed) and a link to the auction appear right on the page. See Sister-App Connections.
Dead-stock recovery is available on the Starter plan and above.
What-If Scenarios
Click Scenarios in the sidebar to model a decision before you commit cash. Available on the Scale plan and above.
Create a scenario — a promotion, a supply disruption, a demand surge, a pricing change — set its parameters, and run the simulation. StockIQ shows you the projected revenue impact, the change in stockout risk, and how many products are affected, with a per-product breakdown of base value versus the scenario value and the delta.
Use it to answer questions like "If I run a 20% promotion on this collection, how many extra units do I need to order, and what happens to my stockout risk?" — without finding out the hard way.
Multi-Channel Allocation
Click Channels in the sidebar if you sell across more than one channel — your Shopify store plus marketplaces like Amazon, TikTok Shop, or Walmart. This screen helps you split a shared pool of stock across those channels intelligently. Available on the Scale plan and above.
What It Shows
Headline cards count your total channels, total allocated units, and the share of inventory not yet allocated to any channel. The channel table lists each channel's type, allocated units, revenue, fill rate (units sold versus units allocated), and status (active / paused / inactive). A comparison chart puts revenue against units sold per channel so you can see where each one is pulling its weight.
Optimize Allocation
Click Optimize Allocation and StockIQ rebalances your stock across channels proportionally to each channel's recent revenue contribution — so your best-performing channels get the inventory they can actually turn, and you stop starving one channel to overstock another.
Analytics & Revenue Impact
Analytics Overview
Click Analytics for the performance dashboard. Pick a window (7 / 14 / 30 / 60 / 90 days) and see headline metrics — total revenue, orders, average order value, inventory turnover, forecast accuracy, and stockout rate — plus trend charts for revenue, orders, inventory health, and forecast accuracy over time, and your top products by revenue or units sold.
Advanced Analytics
The advanced dashboard digs deeper: revenue vs. forecast (how accurate your forecasts have been), stockout frequency, inventory turnover by category, dead-stock trend over time, and a supplier comparison table.
Revenue Impact
Click Revenue Impact to put a dollar figure on your inventory decisions. Available on the Scale plan and above. It shows:
- Revenue at Risk — money exposed by products that are out of stock or low on high demand.
- Lost Sales (30 days) — estimated sales you've already missed.
- Carrying Costs — what your excess inventory is costing you to hold.
- Net Impact — the two netted out.
An at-risk products table names the specific SKUs and why each is at risk, a lost-sales trend chart tracks the problem over time, and a carrying-cost breakdown shows units held and daily/monthly cost per product.
Custom Dashboards
Build your own views from a library of widgets. Available on the Scale plan and above.
Create a dashboard, give it a name, and add widgets: single-number KPI tiles, charts, tables, and alert feeds, each sized to a grid width you choose. Build a morning-standup view, a buyer's view, an exec view — whatever fits how you run. Dashboards can be marked shared or private.
Honesty note: Custom Dashboards is currently in early access. The builder works, but it isn't surfaced in the sidebar yet and some widget data sources are still being wired up — you'll see an "Early access" notice in the page. We'll promote it to the main navigation once it's fully complete.
Sustainability & ESG
Click Sustainability in the sidebar to track the environmental footprint of your inventory. StockIQ rolls up carbon, sourcing, and waste data into a single ESG score out of 100.
What It Tracks
- ESG snapshot — your overall ESG score, total carbon footprint (kg CO₂e), the share of your sourcing that's sustainable, and how many SKUs you're tracking.
- Circular economy — units wasted, donated, and recycled, plus your waste-reduction percentage.
- Carbon-intensive products — a table of your highest-footprint products with the CO₂e per unit, transport mode, distance, and packaging type for each.
The carbon and sourcing data comes from the details you log on your supplier and product records — so the more you fill in under Suppliers, the more complete this dashboard becomes.
The Product 360 View
Open any product (from the Products list) to see everything StockIQ knows about it in one place — a single-product cockpit that pulls together multiple signals:
- Inventory — current quantity, days of stock, stockout risk
- Forecast — predicted demand, confidence, trend
- Safety Stock — recommended buffer and reorder point
- Sales — velocity, last sale date, trend
- External Signals — weather/trend signals affecting this product (when external signals are enabled)
- External Integrations — supplier, lead time, and (with sister apps connected) returns and unmet-search demand for the product
Each panel shows its own status (Live / Unavailable / Disabled) so you always know which data is fresh and which feature would light up if you turned a connection on. The view assembles in parallel and is resilient — if one source is briefly unavailable, the rest still render. This is the StockIQ side of Product 360; see Sister-App Connections for how sister apps enrich it.
Storefront Widgets
StockIQ's intelligence doesn't have to stay in the back office. With the app embed enabled (Online Store → Themes → Customize → App Embeds → StockIQ), you can put inventory signals on your storefront to drive conversion — no theme code required.
- Urgency badges — "Only 3 left" badges render automatically on product pages for low-stock items, creating buy-now pressure. You control the threshold, and you can turn off showing exact numbers entirely.
- Back-in-stock capture — out-of-stock products get an inline "Notify me" form. Every sold-out SKU quietly rebuilds a list of interested shoppers to email when it returns (and if you run ListIQ, those alerts can fan out to wishlisters automatically — see Sister-App Connections).
- Pre-order forms — for out-of-stock products where you allow pre-orders, the same block shows a pre-order form instead of a back-in-stock signup, so you keep capturing sales (and revenue intent) even when stock is zero. Customers get a pre-order confirmation email automatically. StockIQ shows one form per product — pre-order or back-in-stock, never a confusing mix.
- Price-drop alerts — for in-stock products, shoppers can sign up to be notified when the price drops. When you put the item on sale, those subscribers get a price-drop email.
- Placement control — choose which surfaces the widgets appear on (product pages, collection pages, search results, product cards, quick-view), pick from one of 11 built-in theme presets (or supply your own CSS selector), turn on a mutation-observer for themes that lazy-load their grids, and even set per-URL rules. A Test Selector button probes your live storefront and reports how many elements it matched — so you know the widget will land in the right spot before you go live.
The widgets talk to StockIQ over Shopify's signed app-proxy connection, so customer-facing pages get live inventory data safely — no leaked tokens, no Core Web Vitals hit (they load asynchronously).
Storefront badges are available on the Growth plan and above; back-in-stock capture is available on every plan, including Free.
Email, Notifications & Campaigns
StockIQ keeps you (and your suppliers and customers) informed without you wiring up another tool.
Notification Rules
Click Notifications to set up rules: pick a trigger (low stock, stockout, forecast miss, demand spike, and more) and the channels to deliver on. Each rule shows when it last fired. A 30-day digest rolls up everything that went out, by priority, and even estimates the revenue impact of the notifications you acted on.
Email Notifications
Under Settings → Email Notifications, switch on the transactional emails you want:
- Welcome email when StockIQ is installed
- Back-in-stock and price-drop alerts to customers who asked to be notified
- Pre-order confirmation emails to customers who pre-order an out-of-stock item
- Purchase-order created alerts to your team, and PO-sent emails to your supplier (with line items, terms, and ship date)
- Low-stock digest — a daily or weekly roundup of what's running low (Scale plan and above)
- Weekly executive summary — a Sunday briefing covering your top performer, slowest mover, AI-recommended actions, supplier delays, and dead-stock callout (Scale plan and above). You can toggle which sections appear and preview the email before it sends. The headline and recommended actions are written by AI; the underlying numbers are computed directly from your data.
- Agent-mode (Autopilot) notifications — when the agent drafts, executes, or blocks an action
Email Templates
Want the customer-facing emails in your own voice? Click into Email Templates (from the Email Notifications area) to customize the subject and body of each automated email — welcome, back-in-stock, price-drop, pre-order confirmation, low-stock digest, PO-created, and PO-sent-to-supplier. Each template lists the merge variables you can use, a visual or raw-HTML editor, and a live preview. There's also a Generate with AI button that drafts a subject and body for you. Reset to the default any time.
Bring Your Own Email Provider
Connect SendGrid or Klaviyo under Settings → Email Provider to send through your own account and domain. Free through Growth plans can connect one provider; Scale and Enterprise can connect both at once and pick a primary. If you don't connect anything, StockIQ uses its built-in sender (counted toward your monthly email allowance).
Email Marketing — Campaigns
Click Campaigns to email the shoppers who opted in through your storefront widgets — back-in-stock, price-drop, pre-order, and promotional subscribers. Build a campaign (or let AI draft one for you), pick a connected provider, and send or schedule it; the list tracks recipients, sends, and opens per campaign. Campaign sending is a paid feature (the Free plan can't send campaigns — you'll see an upgrade prompt), and each plan has a monthly campaign + AI-draft allowance (see Plans & Billing).
Sister-App Connections
StockIQ is one of Kernvel's ecosystem apps that work together. When you run StockIQ alongside another Kernvel app, extra capabilities switch on — managed from the Connections screen, with one toggle each. The apps exchange only the minimum needed (product IDs, counts, units, flags — never raw customer lists), authenticated privately between apps.
The highlights:
- Back-in-stock fan-out (with ListIQ) — when a sold-out item comes back, ListIQ emails the shoppers who wishlisted it, using its own consent rules and caps.
- Member-first restocks (with GateIQ) — restocked items can open to your members first, at a members-only price, before everyone else.
- Dead-stock auctions (with AuctionAI) — push slow inventory straight into AuctionAI as liquidation lots.
- Net-demand forecasting (with ReturnsIQ) — forecast on orders minus returns, so you stop over-ordering high-return styles.
- Assortment gaps (with SearchIQ) — turn "searched-but-not-found" into a sourcing list.
- Stock-aware search ranking (feeds SearchIQ) — search results favor well-stocked items and ease off near-sold-out ones.
- Product 360 — the single-product cockpit pulls demand, returns, and unmet-search signals together.
For the full walkthrough of each connection and how to turn it on, see the dedicated Sister-App Integrations guide.
Activity Log
StockIQ keeps an Activity Log — an audit trail of changes across the app, with three tabs:
- Team Members — a roster you can annotate with names, emails, and role labels (Viewer / Editor / Manager / Admin), and an Invite Member action.
- Activity Feed — a running list of recent actions (who did what, to which record, and when), including system-generated entries.
- Approvals — items waiting on a sign-off, with one-click approve / reject.
How access really works: the role labels here are for your own organization — they're descriptive, not gates. Actual access control lives in Shopify Admin → Users and Permissions: anyone with permission to open StockIQ has full access. StockIQ authenticates as your store, not as individual staff users. Use Shopify's staff permissions to control who can open the app.

Click Settings in the sidebar. Settings are grouped into tabs.

How Limits Work
- Product tracking is a soft cap by value. If you exceed your plan's product limit, StockIQ keeps tracking your highest-velocity products (you can also pin specific ones); products beyond the cap simply don't get forecasts or alerts until you upgrade or they rise in priority.
- Monthly allowances (forecasts, AI queries, emails, campaigns) reset at the start of each calendar month.
- First paid subscription includes a 14-day free trial. (Cancelling and resubscribing doesn't grant a second trial.)
- If a payment fails, you get a 3-day grace period (and an email) before your account drops to Free-plan limits. Your data is never deleted.
Switching Plans
Upgrade or downgrade any time. Changes flow through Shopify's normal subscription billing. On upgrade, StockIQ immediately expands how many products it tracks; on downgrade or cancellation, it trims back to the new cap (keeping your most valuable products).
Migrating from Stocky
Shopify's Stocky is shutting down. StockIQ is built as a replacement for the merchants Stocky leaves behind, and it includes a one-click migration to import your data so your first forecast is ready right away. If you're moving over, install StockIQ, run the onboarding wizard, and use the migration tool — or email support@kernvellabs.com and we'll walk you through importing your sales history.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
"My forecasts look too flat / too simple."
If a product has less than three weeks of sales history, StockIQ uses a simpler moving-average forecast on purpose — there isn't enough data yet for the full seasonal model. As order history accumulates, the engine automatically switches to the Holt-Winters model and the forecast gets richer. You can always re-run forecasts with Generate Forecasts.
"A product isn't getting a forecast."
Check that it's tracked. If you're over your plan's product cap, StockIQ only forecasts your highest-velocity products. Pin the product (from the Products list) to force it into the tracked set, or upgrade your plan.
"The AI Assistant says 'AI unavailable'."
The AI service was briefly unreachable, so the assistant gave you a keyword-based answer from your store data instead. Try again in a moment for the full AI answer. Also confirm you haven't used up your monthly AI query allowance.
"The agent didn't place an order I expected."
Open Agent Mode → Recent Actions and filter by the "blocked" statuses. The agent records exactly why it stopped — usually a spending cap, a blocklist, or a missing supplier link on the product. Adjust the guardrail or link a supplier and it'll proceed next scan.
"A supplier email didn't send."
The supplier needs a valid email on file. Open the supplier under Suppliers → Edit and add one, then resend the PO. StockIQ will tell you on the PO if the email is missing or failed to queue.
"My inventory counts look out of date."
StockIQ syncs automatically via Shopify webhooks, but you can force an immediate refresh with Sync from Shopify on the Inventory page. Real-time webhook sync (the fastest path) is on the Scale plan and above; other plans still sync, just on a slightly longer cadence plus on-demand.
"Can I cancel anytime?"
Yes — from Settings → Billing. You drop to the Free plan at the end of your current billing period and keep all your data.
"Will StockIQ change my product prices or place orders without me?"
Only if you explicitly turn on Agent Mode at Level 3 or 4, and even then only inside the spending caps and rules you set — with every action logged and reversible. By default, StockIQ recommends and you decide.

Documentation
You're reading it. See also the Sister-App Integrations guide. This guide is updated as new features ship — check back when you upgrade plans or notice something new in the app.
Glossary
ABC Classification — sorting products into A (high revenue), B (medium), and C (low) so you focus reordering effort on what matters.
Agent Mode — StockIQ's autonomous reorder engine that can draft and (optionally) submit purchase orders within guardrails you set.
Anomaly — a product whose real-time demand deviates far enough from its forecast to warrant attention.
Confidence Interval — the upper and lower bounds around a forecast, showing the range demand is likely to fall in.
Days of Stock — how many days your current inventory will last at the current sales rate.
Dead Stock — inventory that hasn't sold in a long time (90+ days by default) while still tying up capital.
Demand Sensing — the real-time layer that reads live order, cart, and search signals to catch demand shifts as they happen.
ESG Score — a 0–100 score on the Sustainability dashboard summarizing your inventory's environmental footprint (carbon, sourcing, and waste).
Holt-Winters — the triple exponential-smoothing forecasting model StockIQ uses for products with enough history; it captures level, trend, and weekly seasonality together.
Max Assemblable — for a bundle, how many complete kits you can build right now, limited by the scarcest component (the bottleneck).
Lead Time — how long a supplier takes to deliver after you place an order.
Lead-Time Multiplier — how late (or early) a supplier actually runs versus their promise (1.0× = on time, 1.5× = 50% late); StockIQ learns it from your receiving history.
Net Demand — demand calculated as orders minus returns (available when ReturnsIQ is connected), so you don't over-order high-return items.
Promotion (forecast hint) — a planned sale you log in StockIQ so the forecast pre-inflates demand for those dates. It does not create a storefront discount — set that up in Shopify Admin → Discounts.
Reorder Point — the stock level at which you should place a new order to avoid running out before the next delivery arrives.
Safety Stock — the buffer you hold to absorb demand variability and late deliveries.
Sales Velocity — how fast a product sells, in units per day.
Service Level — the probability you'll avoid a stockout (e.g., 95%); higher service levels mean larger safety buffers.
Stockout Risk — StockIQ's assessment (Low / Medium / High / Critical) of how likely a product is to run out soon.
