ListIQ user guide
ListIQ is a smart wishlist app for Shopify. Shoppers save products; you can review that interest, configure alerts and prepare email campaigns. This guide describes the current app, including limits that affect what you and your shoppers can do.
Set up your wishlist
Follow the dashboard's setup checklist:
- Open your theme editor and enable the ListIQ app embed.
- Use Create Wishlist Page to create the page. Keep the app embed enabled so the page content can render. Add a link to the page in your store navigation.
- Add the Wishlist Button block to a product template. You can also configure automatic placement on product cards in Settings.
- Optionally add the Wishlist Icon, Wishlist Page, or Frequently Wishlisted Together blocks where your theme supports them.
- Save the theme, preview it on mobile and desktop, and test saving, removing, viewing and adding an available variant to cart.
Theme blocks need a compatible modern Shopify theme. Automatic placement uses your theme's product-card structure; some themes need a custom selector. Quick-view placement is experimental. A completed checklist step is not proof that a block has appeared: preview the storefront yourself.
What shoppers can do
Shoppers can save products, view their wishlist, remove items, share a list by link and add available variants to cart. Logged-in customers on Starter and above can create named lists within their plan's per-customer limit and move items between lists. Guests use a browser-specific saved session; guest lists do not follow a shopper onto another browser or device automatically.
ListIQ attempts to merge guest saves when it can identify the customer and their session. Logged-in customers can load their customer wishlist from other devices. Refresh to see changes; this is not a live cross-device update stream. A shared link lets someone view the shared list; it does not give them ownership of it.
The Frequently Wishlisted Together block uses wishlist relationships and product recommendation fallbacks. It may hide itself when there are no recommendations. Five theme-setting languages are supplied; many shopper messages remain English.
Dashboard, Wishlists and Products
The Dashboard shows recent wishlist activity, counts, attributed revenue, popular products and setup progress. Treat attributed revenue as a report of tracked events, not proof that ListIQ caused every purchase.
Wishlists lets you search, sort, page through lists and open their items and customer details. Select lists on the current page, then choose Send Reminder to open a reminder campaign draft with those customers preselected. Review its recipients and write the content before sending; opening the draft does not send email. Lists without a customer email are skipped, and a selection with no email addresses shows an error. Sending still follows your campaign allowance, unsubscribe preferences and live Shopify marketing consent.
Export Selected downloads a CSV containing the items from only the selected lists. It includes product handles and variant SKUs when available, alongside customer, product, price and availability fields. Keep customer exports private. ListIQ does not currently provide a wishlist CSV import screen.
Products shows cached catalog information, wishlist demand and inventory. The list has server-side search and sorting, plus Previous and Next controls to page through your catalog. Search covers product title, handle, vendor and type. Availability counts describe the current page; the matching-product total covers all results. Product updates and scheduled sync can take time to appear.
Analytics and Insights
Analytics reports activity, the wishlist-to-purchase funnel, product performance and attributed revenue for the selected period. Recommendation performance depends on tracked views, clicks and purchases. Missing data is not a model-learning status.
AI Insights combines rule-based wishlist reports with generated demand text when available. Weekly totals, customer segments, restock suggestions and revenue projections use calculations over store data. Revenue projections are estimates, not guaranteed sales. Pro and Business include generated demand summaries; Starter can currently open the page and see the other reports.
Demand Pulse is Business-only and depends on enough participating stores contributing eligible data. It can remain unavailable. It is checked weekly, on Sundays at 04:50 UTC; a schedule is not a promise that a report will exist.
The AI Usage panel shows recorded calls and spend. Free has no AI budget; Starter, Pro and Business have monthly cost ceilings of $1, $5 and $15, with hourly request limits of 30, 120 and 600. Cached requests may still use the hourly limit. At a limit, a generation request may be unavailable and background alerts may use static copy. No plan includes unlimited AI.
Conversion Leads and Gift Guide
Conversion Leads, available on Starter and above, ranks customer-item pairs using signals such as price changes, stock, recency and engagement. The score is a rule-based estimate of buying interest. Use search, intent and price-drop filters, and sorting to find leads across the full result set, then Previous and Next to page through matches. The sales funnel describes the current page; pagination shows the total matching leads. Changing the page or filters clears your selection. Remind or Email selected opens a campaign draft for review; it does not send email immediately.
Gift Guide, also Starter and above, ranks available products by wishlist activity, price fit and occasion. Choose an occasion and price range, then review the picks. AI can write a guide description; it does not choose the ranked products. The campaign handoff prepares a draft that you must review. Custom occasions and calendar controls appear where supported by the page; sending still follows your plan's campaign allowance.
Email Marketing and Email Templates
In Email Marketing, connect a supported SendGrid or Klaviyo account, or use the platform sender where available. Check sender verification and tracking setup. Omnisend is not an implemented connection. Your provider's own limits still apply.
Create a campaign, choose its type and audience, inspect recipients, review content, and send or schedule it. Paid campaign sends require live Shopify marketing consent for recipients. Saving a wishlist or entering an email alone does not guarantee a shopper will receive a campaign. A draft or scheduled campaign is not a delivery receipt.
Starter currently exposes the builder, but its configured monthly campaign-send allowance is zero, which also blocks saving new campaigns. Pro includes 10 campaign sends per month; Business includes 50. Check Billing before planning a send. Gift/lead handoffs do not bypass that limit.
Pro and Business can generate email drafts, template content and subject variants within AI limits. Campaign drafts use your store name and campaign type; they do not automatically receive all selected product, discount, audience or brand details. Review every generated claim, price, offer and product reference before use.
Email Templates lets you preview and edit the notification templates exposed by your plan. Preserve the supported merge variables and product-list placeholder. A Welcome template is present; that does not establish an automatic welcome-email workflow. Template previews and test sends should be checked before real sends.
Use Klaviyo flows for wishlist alerts
Direct email is the default. To use your own Klaviyo flows, connect Klaviyo, make it your primary sender and grant the private API key Events write permission. In Email Marketing → Provider settings, use Send test event with a profile email you control. Check that profile's activity for ListIQ Test Event. This uses sample products and a separate metric; any flow on that test metric may run. An accepted event does not confirm that Klaviyo processed it or delivered an email.
Create and enable flows with these metric triggers before checking Use Klaviyo Events API for wishlist alerts:
- Added to Wishlist (successful saves, published after commit; guest saves wait for customer identification)
- Wishlist Back In Stock
- Wishlist Price Drop
- Wishlist Low Stock
- Wishlist Reminder
Flows receive shop/currency/customer context, wishlist and unsubscribe links, and product data such as IDs, titles, images, prices and stock when available. Product handles/links depend on your synced catalog. Reminder events include up to five unpurchased items. Configure the email content, sender and subscription checks in Klaviyo; ListIQ does not subscribe the profile when it sends an event.
Existing ListIQ alert eligibility, shopper preferences, quiet hours, fatigue limits and plan allowances still apply. An eligible queued alert creates an event instead of a ListIQ email when Klaviyo is selected. Campaigns and other email types keep their current delivery. Successful saves stage Added to Wishlist separately; guest saves wait until ListIQ links the wishlist to a customer with email. This metric honors global unsubscribe and does not subscribe the profile or spend alert allowances. Before each save event is published, ListIQ checks the current global unsubscribe, delivery mode and selected provider, including changes made while other save events are being published. Configure subscription checks in your marketing flows. Retries are bounded and reuse the event ID. Provider cooldowns delay retry until the deadline; local deferrals do not use the retry budget. Rate-limited or failed events are not an email delivery receipt. Check both ListIQ's alert state and Klaviyo activity when troubleshooting. Product current and saved prices carry separate currency fields; compare savings only when the currencies match.
To switch back, uncheck the Events API setting. Previously accepted events may still run flows, so pause those Klaviyo flows if you are retiring them.
Alerts and timing
Under Settings → Notifications, configure each alert type, the price-drop threshold, reminder interval, quiet hours and reply-to address. Shopper preferences, provider readiness, inventory, plan caps and suppression state also affect delivery.
- Price drop: a qualifying price change on a saved product can queue an alert.
- Back in stock: a saved product returning to available stock can queue an alert.
- Low stock: an eligible saved product crossing the low-stock condition can queue an alert.
- Reminders: the daily reminder check looks for eligible inactive wishlists using your configured interval.
- New arrivals / auction alerts: separate Settings switches control matching newly listed or auctioned products against shopper interest.
Price and inventory checks run about every 15 minutes; the notification queue is processed about every five minutes. These are job schedules, not delivery guarantees. Quiet hours are evaluated in UTC. Under Alert Send Time, choose Immediate (default) to make new alerts eligible for the next queue run, or choose a daily hour in your Shopify store timezone. If the timezone is unavailable, UTC is used. A chosen hour holds new alerts until its next occurrence. If daylight saving skips that hour, delivery waits for the next day; if the hour repeats, the next occurrence is used. Quiet hours, shopper preferences and plan limits still apply. The old Smart Reminders schedule no longer holds restock or price-drop alerts to 10:00 UTC.
AI Shopper-Alert Copy is optional on Pro and Business and off by default. Turn it on in Notifications and save settings to use AI wording for supported English alerts with product data. Prices, savings, discounts and stock counts are checked against the alert data for the named product, regardless of letter case in its name; unsupported or rejected wording uses the standard template. Low-stock alerts and other languages use standard templates. A custom merchant email template remains in control and skips AI generation. AI usage limits apply.
Last AI-written alert shows the latest accepted subject, headline and body. Customer-name placeholders are filled in for each recipient. This is prepared copy, not a delivery receipt; later queue/provider checks can still prevent sending. Switch AI copy off and save to use standard wording for future alerts.
Settings and Connections
Settings also controls the heart/star/bookmark appearance, colors, animation, count badge, branding and storefront placement. Recommendation and personalization preferences are saved but do not currently control those features. Branding removal requires Pro or Business. Custom CSS can affect layout; preview after editing it.
For automatic placement, select a theme preset or provide selectors for your product cards. Page rules can exclude URLs. Turn off quick-view injection or the observer if they cause a problem. The storefront-health panel helps inspect placement. Turning off automatic placement does not remove explicit theme blocks. To hide all ListIQ storefront elements, disable its app embed and remove its blocks.
New-arrival matching offers tag, product-type, vendor, collection and similarity options. Visual similarity requires Pro or Business and a supported connection; when that service is unavailable, matching may fall back to text similarity.
Connections shows available pairings with other Kernvel apps. A connection requires the relevant app to be installed and configured. Restock notifications from two separate apps are not guaranteed to be deduplicated across apps.
Plans and the wishlist limit
Prices below are USD; Billing and Shopify's approval screen show the current terms. Existing subscriptions can retain their captured price until a plan change.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Stored wishlist items across the store | Wishlists per customer | Price-drop / restock alerts per month | Campaign sends per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 100 | 1 | 0 / 0 | 0 |
| Starter | $6.99 | $69.90 | 500 | 5 | 50 / 50 | 0 |
| Pro | $16.99 | $169.90 | 5,000 | 20 | 500 / 500 | 10 |
| Business | $44.99 | $449.90 | No item cap | 50 | 5,000 / 5,000 | 50 |
The wishlist-item limit is a lifetime store-wide count of stored items, across all shoppers and lists. It is not an items-per-month allowance and does not reset at the start of a billing period. Purchased items still count while stored. Deleting item rows can reduce the count. When the store reaches the cap, new saves fail; existing lists remain viewable. There is currently no approaching-item-cap warning banner or email. Review your stored-item usage in Billing.
Other usage counters have separate rules. The plan action allowances are 500 / 2,000 / 10,000 / 50,000 per month. The configured AI-generation fields are 0 / 10 / 100 / 5,000, alongside the cost/hourly gates; individual AI operations do not all update an identical generation counter. Do not assume a cache hit is free of every limit.
Paid plan changes go through Shopify approval; review the charge and effective terms there. Cancelling returns the app to Free. Data remaining stored does not grant access to features or capacity above Free's limits.
API keys and support
API Keys lets you create and revoke integration credentials. Free supports test keys; Starter supports live read access; Pro and Business add write access, customer contact scopes and webhook subscriptions. Grant only the scopes your integration needs, and keep keys private. The account page shows your plan's key and rate limits.
Use Feedback to report an issue or ask for help; its User guide link opens this guide. You can also email support@kernvellabs.com. Include the affected page, theme and steps to reproduce. Do not send API keys. Growth Services links to specialist setup help and booking; a click alone is not a confirmed booking.
Temporary storefront pause
After the reviewed presentation-control release, support can temporarily pause ListIQ's storefront widgets. On a fresh page load, the wishlist buttons, wishlist page, related-product block and optional support launcher stay hidden. Saved wishlist data and merchant settings are retained. Reload an already-open page to observe the pause or restoration. Contact support if a widget remains visible.
The storefront keeps loading while widgets wait for the pause check. If the check is unavailable, widgets use the last known state after a short wait. A first visit with no known state keeps widgets hidden. Hidden theme blocks retain their space to avoid moving other page content.
